Radiology
Overview
Radiology Department is one of the foremost unit of the clinical arm of Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja. The department with the aid of the available radiological equipments assist in accurate diagnosis of cases for proper management. The department is located between the Female Surgical Ward and VCT opposite the main theatre.
The department commenced operation in October 1999 at the inception of Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja with inherited staff, X-ray and Ultrasound machine from the General Hospital, Lokoja.
The present radiology department block was shared with Laboratory department until May, 2009 when the Laboratory department vacated the block for radiology department.
Presently, there is a new purpose built radiology block that is at the level of furnishing and occupation.
The new block has space provision for computed Tomography (C.T), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Fluoroscopy, Mammography, Ultrasound, offices, Library/Seminar room.

Services
The department offers varied diagnostic services such as:
- Ultrasonography with Doppler and 4D facility
- Plain radiographic Examination and Contrast enhanced radiography.
- X-ray Mammography
- Plans are under way to acquire a CT scan machine.
Training
The department undertake training of Intern Radiographers, Residents from other departments and physics student on short term SIWES Posting. Efforts are being made to start residency training program. Seminar and in house lecture is organized to keep the staff up dated.
